Don't I know that already?! ...

Surviving Winter And Feeling Good!

There are always things that we know we should be doing to help ourselves...
We say to ourselves 'Don't I know that already?
BUT knowing whats good for you and doing it is another thing... Right!
Right! so here we go..

  • Drink plenty of water.....

Yes, H2O really is a girls best friend!

Drink plenty of water. what with having the the central heating on, air conditioning turned up high along with the bitter cold & wind which wrecks havoc with our skin & hair, it also causes  dehydration which in turn can make us cranky and is also one of the main contributor for muscle cramps.
Drinking at least 8 glasses of water will compensate for  some of the damage.
It is also said that drinking 1 to 2 glasses of water before a meal will reduce your intake of food which is a helping hand to go long with any diet you maybe on.
Drinking plenty of water will also stop you from feeling lethargic & tired which is common in winter due to all the stodgy heavy food we eat and the reduced sunshine we get.

  • Get plenty of sleep.....

It goes without saying that sleep is just as vital as drinking water but its something that nearly all of us don't get enough of. We should all strive to get around 6 hours of sleep.
This is the time when our body is busy repairing the damage we cause it with our busy lifestyles and stresses.
The body rejuvenates, heals and repairs, so give it a fighting chance.
When the body is fit so is the mind and vice versa.

  • Be Happy....

This one sounds easy enough but during winter its easy to feel more depressed what with the cold and more shorter days but we can help ourselves!
Go for walks in the park at lunch time even if it is cold.

Meet up with friends for quick stroll and do a bit of window shopping, have a giggle!

Buy yourself some flowers! Bring some colour into your life while the world is grey and miserable. Its great having a splash of colour on your desk or on your coffee table.

Watch a comedy rather then a thriller, drama or horror. Laughing releases endorphins which are the chemicals which make us feel 'Happy'

There are some of us who suffer from something called 'SAD' which is short for 'Seasonal Affective Disorder' Its a known medical condition which effects some people due to the shortening of the days during winter months and the decreased amount of sunshine that we get. It is a type of depression.
For anyone feeling any form of depression its always sensible to get some medical advise.

  • Exercise.....

Join a exercise club. Go with a friend or do it alone and make new friends.

Its a well known theory that any form of exercise releases endorphins which are the 'feel good' chemicals in our body.
Its not always about looking beautiful or achieving the perfect weight. Sometimes its just for fun and that's good enough.

  • Goals......

Give yourself easy goals to attain in your daily life. Something as easy as reading a book that you have been meaning to read for months.

Enrol in short evening course.
Its a great feeling when you have completed something. The sense of accomplishment you get will make you feel great!

  • People.....

Surround yourself with people who love you and who you love!

Avoid people who put you down, disrespect or belittle you.
Your happiness and well being depends a lot on your own self esteem so do things which make you happy and surround yourself with people who appreciate you and those who are ready to take as well as give something back.

Love yourself and others will love you back. So go ahead and spread the love and happiness!

What's on your lips?

Do you always know what your wearing on your lips? or do you just know the name of the brand & shade? With Red lipsticks being very popular at the moment and me trying to find my perfect shade of red I found out a few more things then I had anticipated.... Well this may not be news to some people as it was to me but it really did shock me to find out that nearly 50% of all lipsticks manufactured in the US contains pig fat to give the shiny appearance!  I always thought to myself that in this day and age where there are so many synthetic & vegetarian alternative's cosmetic companies wouldn't still be using animal derived ingredients but I was very disappointed by what I found. The very brief summary below shows a list's all the animal, fish, insect derived ingredients which are used routinely in majority of lipsticks here in the UK. Names of animal derived ingredients. Wax (usually beeswax)  provides the solid shape of the lipstick. Glycerine (usuall
